We're sitting on our balcony in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia. This is the view we see.

pique', we were in Missoula on Friday afternoon, for less than an hour. I really, really liked what I saw and *loved* the historic areas. I took as many photos as I could out the window of a speeding car! When I was standing in front of the bookstore there was a guy outside with a dog, so perhaps that was the owner. Improv was in a *big hurry* to get to Spokane, so we didn't really spend a lot of time -- we just wanted to have some tangible memory of being in your area, in a spot that has meaning for you and so many others on the forum, so made something of a beeline right to the store, took several photos and left. I'm really sorry we couldn't connect...but we really, really love Montana. Improv (and I'm sure you'll chuckle over this given the way things turned out three years ago) mentioned something like "I think I could bring my little boat out to Flathead Lake without too much trouble." |

I probably should have put my "I met plays and Improv" post here. I'm bumping this up in hopes they'll put their pictures in this thread. We asked some stranger to take a picture of the three of us together in the deli - plays tells him which button to push, his friend cracks up - because it turns out the guy is a professional photographer!

So nice to meet you Jodi. Just as charming as I imagined you would be.
We're in Mukilteo, Washington. Right on the Puget sound. Here's the view from our balcony tonight. Right next to the ferry that carrys cars across the sound. And from the pier in the above picture, is a shot of where we're staying tonight and tomorrow night. From the boardwalk looking up at Plays. Took me a while to coax her to the balcony. She hates heights. One last picture, from last night. Plays in her robe after a turn in the hot spring. |

Secret embedded message to Steve Miller:
That ferry from Mukilteo goes to Whidbey Island. The bridge is at the north end. You can take a ferry from the south end. Just in case you wanted to go fetch that trailer. |

Y'know, you can just walk on that ferry and ride it back and forth. I think walk-on passengers only pay westbound. And it's really neat coming back in at dusk or after dark, seeing the lights getting closer and closer. If you loves you some water, it's a super neat way to kill an hour or two in the festering metropolis of Mukilteo.

I realize I'm way behind on our pics, but I'm going to skip ahead a few days to cover our visit with Jodi today.
We left Harrison Hot Springs and headed for the border: No sooner over the border than Improv spies this sign and makes a semi-lewd comment: :rolleyes2: Well, he sure held that thought long enough, because as we were getting closer to Jodi's house, he spied this partially obscured sign at a stoplight and made a similar remark: :rolleyes2: Imagine his disappointment when we rolled through the intersection and he saw it was only noodles. Are all men the same in this regard? Sheesh. :banghead: We knew we were getting closer at this point: And this is our first glimpse of Jodi: OF COURSE, Improv had to check out one of Mr. Jodi's boats immediately. We had a tour of Jodi's house and all the work in progress. After that, we settled in her living room where I took a few minutes to play her Chas. Walter grand. You know how there are some pianos that make you feel at ease the minute you press into the keys? Jodi's is like that for me. I was so relaxed I could actually pull out some stuff from the memory banks and play for just a little bit. Jodi, your piano is a beautiful instrument and I enjoyed playing very much. Then we had a tour of her lovely gardens. Folks, I hate to be the one to bring you this scoop, but Jodi apparently has been growing illegal substances! After that shocking revelation, we looked at some of her other plants, and tasted some kiwi fruit right off the bush. This lady has a green thumb fer sure! As Jodi mentioned in another thread, when we had lunch, I asked a man to take our picture who just happened to be a professional photographer. We lucked out for sure, cuz this is a great shot: When we got back, the granite guys had shown up and were installing Jodi's countertops: It was time to go then, so we took one last shot from her front yard - in the distance you can see the water! Jodi, we loved having the opportunity to meet you. You're just as warm, friendly and engaging as we knew you would be. Please let us know if you're ever coming out East so we can reciprocate your hospitality. Thanks for a delightful afternoon! |

Great pictures! I love the one with me behind the rose bush.
They put the rest of the granite in after you left and epoxied (is that a verb? Again, I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon, and I'm looking forward to the photos from the rest of your trip! |

That's the best pic of you ever, Plays. You're not just losing pounds. You're losing years. (I have to say it looks like Improv's still disgruntled about that Noodle shack, though.) |

This is such a fun thread. Thanks for taking all of the time to do it, plays and improv. I know it is a hassle to take the pics., upload them, etc., etc.
It is such fun to be with you on vacation, in a way. And Plays, I know I am just repeating what has been said here already, but you are just beautiful! You go, girl!! |

If my calculations are correct, Plays and Improv should be on the elevator going up the Space Needle at this very moment.

I had a lovely lunch with P&I at the Wings Cafe at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. We talked about airplane stuff (strangely, they didn't have *any* questions about airplane toilets), Seattle, DC, WTFers, and bunches of other stuff.
I really wanted to stay and roam the museum with them, but I had a few errands to run. They said they do NOT believe all the stories about Seattle being grey, bleak, depressing, miserable, and constantly rainy. They lucked out and managed to be here on one of the three nice days we expect to have this year. Feh. We did manage to coerce a few people (none of whom said they were professional photographers) to get a few pics. I hope Plays will post one or two soon. They are delightful people. |
