Neither. Rich was very vocal about his wishes. He celebrated his life with the people he chose when he was alive, and specifically didn't want any kind of gathering after, hard for some to understand but for those who knew him, completely normal, and completely Rich. To remember him in our daily lives, to live by the lessons he taught us, and to smile at the memories he gave us, is far more personal than any gathering could be.

Thanks for asking Lily lady. Its so tough right now. x

Well, I disagree with Rich, and sure wish I could argue the point with him right now. I would point out to him that celebrations of funerals/celebrations of life/ memorial services - whatever you want to call them are not for the departed but for those left behind. We, his friends and family, and *especially* you, are the ones hurting. That kind of physical gathering and collective show of love and support can be an immense catharsis. I wish you could have that.

Kathy, I'm sure he'd love get into it with you. *smiles*

I agree wholeheartedly with his wishes, as do his family, and understand where he comes from.

It makes him even more.........him.

I know clearly where I have love and support, don't fret, it was made clear when he was alive and remains so. Thanks for making me smile. x

Well, his music is certainly a wonderful legacy and memorial in and of itself. How far did he get at putting his latest CD together, S?

Oh my! I've been scarce around these parts and am only now catching up. Late with condolances, but extending them nonetheless.

How cool!
I relate.
Indeed, I resonate with this.
No gathering!!!

Each person I know holds me in their heart.
All that really matters is private.
Socializing about me misses it completely!

I will also request this.
Thanks WI.
Deep bow.

Thanks Kenny, for 'seeing it'. To carry out someones wishes is harder than it seems on the surface. It is not to do what you would like to do, or what normally is done, or think they would like you to do if you had asked them,to second guess them or do for others that are left or for yourself, it is exactly what it is, to carry out their wishes.

I know I can hold my head high, and smile, having carried out all his wishes, just as he asked.........

Thanks again Kenny. S.x
